Are you curious about what it is like working in China? Come and take part in a seminar with Magnus Johansson, senior vice president of SKF and former CEO of SKF China. Mr. Johansson will share his extensive experience from working in and managing an organization operating in the very dynamic and rapidly evolving Chinese economy. He will also make interesting comparisons and highlighting contrasts between the Swedish and the Chinese “way”.
SKF, the company which Mr. Johansson is representing is one of the single largest companies in Sweden and is headquartered in Gothenburg. The company has a long history of operating in China and has a large presence on the Chinese market.
The Event is hosted by Destination Asia, which is a student organization consisting of students from Chalmers and Handelshögskolan in Gothenburg. Our purpose is to create a platform where students from the respective universities can learn more about what it is like working and living in Asia.
Light food and drinks will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Date: April 14th
Time: 17.00-19.00
Place: Hörsalsvägen HB2, Chalmers
Recruitment of New Board for 2011/2012
It is time for Destination Asia to select the members for the board 2011/2012. We know that you have been at Destination Asia’s seminars and that you are interested in our organisation - that is why we are interested in you.
Destination Asia was founded in 2005 and the organisation is growing every year. This year students from Chalmers and Handels have had the opportunity to meet a project manager from Capgemini as well as the former Head of SKF-Shanghai and currently Senior Vice-President of SKF. The annual trip to Asia was taken to China where we met Volvo Cars in Shanghai as well as Ericsson and students at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunicaitons.
Watch Swedish Prof. Hans Rosling's interesting TED talk to find out the exact date that India and China will outstrip the US
"Hans Rosling was a young guest student in India when he first realized that Asia had all the capacities to reclaim its place as the world's dominant economic force. At TEDIndia, he graphs global economic growth since 1858 and predicts the exact date that India and China will outstrip the US."
We hope everyone's had a wonderful summer. A few members of the board of Destination Asia also took a study tour to China last July. Here's the report:
Destination Asia’s trip to China 2010 Beijing – Culture, Ericlub and Ericsson
The annual trip to Asia started at Landvetter at 18.00 Monday the 5th of July 2010.
Destination Asia was established in January 2005 by students at Chalmers University and The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg. The organisation aims to increase the knowledge, interest and understanding about Asia among Swedish students and thereby provides them with tools necessary for future work in and with Asia. Destination Asia arranges seminars with invited companies and organisations to provide their experience of the Asian market, culture and daily life to students. Every spring a study trip to an Asian country will be arranged with the intention to build long-term networks with companies and universities in that country.
This year's study trip is to China, one of the world's fastest growing economies.
Every study trip will result in a magazine full of articles from visits at companies, universities and up-to-date reports from the destination. The magazine will be available at Chalmers, Gothenburg University and on our website.
